Description
Strawberry Kisses is the sixth piece in a suite of choral songs titled "Vashon Suite: No Bridges." The suite was commissioned for performance in June 2014 by the Vashon Island Chorale (Vashon Island, Washington state), celebrating the Chorale's 25th anniversary. Strawberry Kisses was also performed in Seattle's Benaroya Hall in March 2014 as a preview of the anniversary event. Bronwyn Edwards composed the music and the lyrics for all eleven songs in the suite. The artistic director of the Chorale is Dr. Gary Cannon.

The song is upbeat in 10/8 time. It is bright and summery, describing two lovers heading out into the sunshine for a bicycle ride and a summer picnic. The scene is Vashon Island, across Puget Sound from Seattle, Washington. Traditionally, many visitors ride the ferry to Vashon to attend the annual Strawberry Festival. Besides being a great favorite of the choir, "Strawberry Kisses" was performed as part of a "flash mob" at the local farmers' market on Vashon just prior to the anniversary concert.
